PRESCRIPTION EYEWEAR

Deciphering your eye prescription should be less about how “bad” it is, and more about how vision correction can improve your eyesight. The goal of glasses and contacts is always 20/20 vision, no matter what your prescription reads.

The numbers, decimals, pluses and minuses may seem like a language spoken only by eye doctors, but their meanings are more straightforward than you might think: They all relate to common eye conditions in some way.

The column labelled “Sphere” is especially useful since a value closer to zero represents a more mild condition. But there are more the numbers in your prescription can tell you about nearsightedness, farsightedness (including presbyopia) and astigmatism.

At westpoint Optical, we have a full selection of branded contact lenses

Contact lenses are an excellent choice for nearly anyone who needs vision correction and doesn't want to wear eyeglasses full time or undergo LASIK surgery.
Caring for your contact lenses — cleaning, disinfecting and storing them — is quite simple. Most people require only a single multipurpose solution to clean, disinfect and safely store their lenses. Your eye doctor will recommend a lens care system. Be sure to follow the care directions carefully. These are the basics you should know about contact lenses before seeing your eye doctor ( if you are interested in wearing contacts).
